There are some great places to eat in St. Simons Island. Each with some great food that will have you coming back for more. One such place is ECHO Oceanfront Restaurant, which is located on the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort. With great food, drinks, and an option of indoor or outdoor seating you can’t go wrong.
The island of St. Simons has plenty of naval history. Their center for operations was at the King and Prince during World War II. Radar was a new-found technology that helped their allies, hence the name ECHO. As time went out the King and Prince grew and the restaurant did too. Now under the direction of executive chef James Flack is one to try.
During my time at the King and Prince, I was able to dine for breakfast, try lunch on the go, and have a 5 course meal with wine pairing. My favorite was breakfast! One morning I had crab cakes eggs benedict with potato wedges and fruit. Another morning had pastries, eggs, all types of bread, bacon, teas, coffees, made to order omelettes and more. There was no way to go wrong.
The appetizers were great. I loved the fresh strawberries and the honey. Really the entire platter was filled with goodness.
The first dinner I had that was prepared by ECHO was a salad and shrimp and grits. We had a very cool demonstration of how it was being made prior to eating it. I love shrimp and Georgia is known for having sweet tasting shrimp. It was really good. For dessert I had a lemon sorbet with blueberries. I am a sucker for lemon flavored desserts so I enjoyed it.
The five course meal came with wine pairings. It was very fancy food beautifully plated. The first course was caramelized butternut squash bisque with pumpkin bread croutons. It was my favorite of the night.
The second course sous vide lobster, Georgia gouda polenta, season roots, and tarragon.
Third course was a poached pear, asher blue panna cotta, winter salad with balsamic vinaigrette. It was really tasty.
The fourth course was Japanese Wagyu filet, beet risotto, confit romanesco with sauce béarnaise. It was tender and very good. It was my first time tasting wagyu. I loved the colors on the plate.
The last and final course was of course dessert. It was a spice cake paired with a shot of bourbon. The kind of bourbon that could put a hair on your chest if not careful.
If you want breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks ECHO will take care of you. They have all types of food and serve many things with a twist. The food is really good and the service is the best! Even when setting up a meeting, wedding, or an event ECHO is the place to go with a great atmosphere and ocean views.
Have you ever been to ECHO Oceanfront Restaurant? How was your experience? What did you order?
Disclaimer: Thank you ECHO and King and Prince for the delicious meals. Whilst receiving complimentary meals my opinions and views have not been influenced.
